Not For Profit and Municipal Services

Not for profit organizations and municipal entities are all around us.

Not for profit organizations
Not for profit organizations (NPO) are formed for almost any cause. From mental health support, to protecting source water, junior athletic organizations and churches; NPOs provide essential community services and support. NPOs are also governed by a strict set of rules and government requirements. If your NPO is also a Charity, the rules change. If you are incorporated provincial or federally … the rules change. As your gross revenue fluctuates from year to year …. you guessed it … the rules change. It gets complicated quickly and it is easy to overlook and miss a deadline or a filing requirement.
When I started training to be a CPA, I started with NPOs and I understand how each aspect of your NPO alters what is expected of you. Some of the NPO services I provide are:
  • Financial statement audit, review and compilation
  • T2, NPO, and Charity Return filing
  • Public Service Bodies GST Rebate application and filing
  • GST consulting
  • Charity status application assistance

Municipalities
Each of us live in a municipality, whether it is urban or rural. Our property tax dollars provide for the services we enjoy, from maintained roads (both summer and through our winters), to having a local library to use. Our elected councils have a fiduciary duty to spend our tax dollars wisely and within their elected mandate. Provincial governments require that all municipal entities are audited annually and I have been providing auditing services to municipalities for over 15 years, both here in Saskatchewan and in Alberta.
Some of the municipal services I provide include:
  • Financial statement audit
  • Municipal Hail reporting
  • Education property tax reporting
  • GST filing
  • Complex accounting transaction assistance
